Each year, The Virginia Home hosts Stories of Courage & Grace ™, a fundraiser driven to inspire residents and loved ones through personal stories by one or more celebrity guests, who share his or her story of success despite their hardship or experience.
Born in Utah in 1987, Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her home at age 14 in June 2002. She was held captive for nine months until she was found in March 2003. She has since become a noted activist and author, launching the Elizabeth Smart Foundation in 2011 and authoring My Story in 2013.
